Welcome...Hi, I'm Alec Taylor, owner of Taylor5 Home Computer Services. Thanks
for checking out our website. With over 20 years of experience in PC
hardware, software, networking, and Microsoft Windows, I a With 3 kids in the Carroll County school system, sports, after-school activities, and a daily 90 minute round trip drive to work, I understand how crazy life can get sometimes. One thing I've learned in my 10 years in this county is that things never slow down. Many folks I've talked to about their computer problems don't have time to disconnect their computer and drag it to Columbia. They aren't sure what to do so their course of action is to worry about it "tomorrow" and just keep the computer turned off. It doesn't have to be this way.
Throwing down the gauntlet...Taylor5 was born after seeing the havoc being wreaked on my friend's computers by viruses, pop-ups, spam, hackers, and spyware. There are a lot of bad guys out there and their tactics really angered me. Through no fault of their own, some of my friend's computers were rendered unusable by this trash! And the problem is getting worse. According to a recent ZDNet article, an unprotected PC on the internet will be infected with malware within 20 minutes! Qualified to help...A software engineer by trade, I have been a PC hobbyist since 1984 when I purchased an IBM PCjr. It had 1 5.25" floppy drive and 128 KB of RAM. Man was I living! I moved onto a Kaypro PC-XT, purchased a Hayes 1200 baud modem, and started a dial up Bulletin Board System (BBS), an early cousin to the internet. That was 1986 and about 8 PC's ago. Between my hobby and career I have installed, diagnosed, repaired, and upgraded PCs hundreds of times. As a software engineer I have programmed for the Windows platform and I understand it's traits, quirks, and subtleties. I've probably already encountered a lot of the head-scratchers that you may be seeing today.
